Innotecho Co., Ltd., a resident company of the Startup Incubation Center at Korea Polytechnic University, announced that it has been selected as a “2023 Outstanding Institution for Industry–Academia Collaboration.”
The “Outstanding Institution Certification Program for Industry–Academia Collaboration” was newly introduced this year. It certifies outstanding organizations among companies that have engaged in industry–academia activities such as student internships, cooperative education programs, and technology transfer. Certified institutions are granted financial benefits such as lower loan interest rates, exemption from early repayment fees, and preferential foreign exchange rates, as well as non-financial benefits including additional points when applying for government projects.
The Ministry of Education and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which introduced the certification program, stated that the initiative aims to foster industry–academia collaboration by providing incentives and various benefits to participating companies and universities, thereby contributing to the cultivation of talent and the expansion of technological infrastructure.
Innotecho, one of the institutions selected this year, received technology related to gas sensors from Professor Chang-gyu Kim of the Department of Nano Semiconductor Engineering at Korea Polytechnic University in December of last year and is currently conducting commercialization research. The company has also been carrying out a variety of practical training activities in collaboration with the university, such as utilizing shared equipment.
Regarding the selection, Innotecho CEO In-ho Kim said, “By being located within the Startup Incubation Center at Korea Polytechnic University, we were naturally able to participate in the university’s industry–academia programs. I am delighted that our active collaboration with the university has contributed to our recognition as an outstanding institution. Moving forward, we will continue to work diligently so that our company can serve as a model for successful industry–academia cooperation.”
Meanwhile, a total of 36 institutions, including Innotecho, were selected as “2023 Outstanding Institutions for Industry–Academia Collaboration.” The certification ceremony was held on May 23 at the President Hotel in Seoul.
